NCLEX Testing advice
Below is a list of fundamentals to test taking, in regards to preparation, and the moments leading up to the exam.
General NCLEX Prep
- As with any test you will EVER take, preparation is KEY!!! As we mentioned above, the NCLEX exam is no different.
- NCLEX Exam preparation should begin the day after nursing school. Start reviewing questions that will most likely be on the exam. Drug profiles, nursing theory, infectious control, patient safety, etc...
- Budget your time appropriately! Study for the NCLEX exam an hour EVERY day. DO NOT sit and cram the day before the test!
- Review questions from practice tests. Usually these questions come from previous exams... so utilize them!
- Get a good nighst sleep the night beofre the NCLEX exam, at least 8 hours of solid sleep!
- Wake up with enough time to have a relaxing morning. The last thing you want is to be rushing to take the exam!
- Eat a solid breakfast. Just relax over breakfast, sit down and eat a nice healthy breakfast.
- Breath! Concentrate on your breathing. This is a great way to calm the nerves. Two second breath in, hold for two seconds, out for two seconds,hold for two seconds, and repeat. This is great to calm the nerves!
- Get to the testing center a half hour early. This will help you soak everything in and takes away from the stress of being late. Besides... there is a lot that has to be done before the exam.
